Job overview

Ridgeway Financial Partners is recruiting an entry-level Virtual Bookkeeper to support accurate, well-organized financial records for assigned clients. Typical work may include recording transactions, categorizing income and expenses, reconciling bank and credit-card accounts, organizing receipts, processing invoices, and preparing monthly financial summaries. Paid training is provided, so previous professional bookkeeping experience is not required.

This is a bookkeeping-focused role, rather than general data entry or a customer-facing billing position. The emphasis is on accurate financial records, consistent account categories, reconciliations, confidentiality, and dependable monthly reporting.

New to bookkeeping? You can still apply

No prior bookkeeping experience or college degree is required. A high school diploma or equivalent is required. Familiarity with QuickBooks Online or Xero is helpful, but you can apply if you are willing to learn. Training and the exact software used depend on the assignment.

Employment options and schedule

Part-time roles typically involve 15–25 hours per week. Full-time positions may also be available, and contract assignments can be arranged around individual client needs. Much of the work is completed during business hours, with busier periods around month-end and year-end close. Candidates must be authorized to work in the United States.

What you'll do

  • Record daily financial transactions in bookkeeping software and keep entries organized.
  • Reconcile bank and credit-card accounts, review differences, and flag items that need clarification.
  • Categorize business income, expenses, and receipts using the client's chart of accounts.
  • Support accounts payable and accounts receivable, including invoice processing and payment follow-up.
  • Prepare routine monthly profit and loss, balance sheet, and cash-flow reports as assigned.
  • Maintain a clean chart of accounts and orderly supporting documentation.
  • Coordinate with accountants on tax preparation and provide organized records when requested.
  • Assist with payroll coordination under supervision and maintain 1099 contractor records.
  • Support month-end and year-end close by checking records and following documented procedures.
  • Communicate professionally with clients about routine bookkeeping questions and financial status.
  • Protect confidential financial information and follow access and data-handling rules.

A typical bookkeeping workflow

Exact steps vary by client, but a common workflow may look like this:

Collect RecordsRecord TransactionsCategorize ItemsReconcile AccountsPrepare ReportsReview & File

For example, you may enter transactions and attach receipts, review how items are categorized, compare the bookkeeping records with bank statements, flag discrepancies for review, and prepare the monthly reports for the assigned accountant or client contact.
