Job overview
Vantage Growth Services is recruiting a remote List Building Specialist to research and organize accurate prospect information for sales and marketing campaigns. You will help identify businesses and relevant contacts, verify contact details, enrich records with useful company information, and deliver clean, well-segmented lists to the teams that use them.
This is primarily a research and data-quality position. It supports sales development representatives (SDRs) and business development representatives (BDRs), but it is not primarily an outbound calling, cold-emailing, or sales-closing job. It also differs from general data entry: the goal is to research relevant prospects against defined criteria and produce accurate, usable contact lists.
No previous sales or data experience required
Entry-level applicants and career changers are welcome. Paid training covers the team's list-building tools, data hygiene practices, and workflows. A college degree, professional certification, or prior sales role is not required. Strong research habits, careful attention to detail, and willingness to learn matter most.
Employment options and schedule
Full-time roles typically involve about 40 hours per week. Part-time and contract assignments may be project-based, with list sizes and delivery dates agreed with the team. The exact schedule, expected output, tools, and pay structure—including whether any assignment pays per 1,000 verified contacts—should be confirmed during the interview.
What you'll do
- Build targeted prospect lists for sales and marketing campaigns using the team's approved ideal-customer-profile (ICP) criteria.
- Research companies and relevant professional contacts through approved sources such as LinkedIn, ZoomInfo, Apollo, Clay, or similar tools.
- Verify business email addresses and phone numbers using approved verification methods.
- Enrich records with company details, job titles, industry, company size, geography, and other relevant fields.
- Clean, standardize, and deduplicate lists to reduce repeated or incomplete records.
- Segment prospects by industry, company size, title, geography, and other agreed ICP criteria.
- Maintain accurate CRM data and follow the team's data-hygiene and import procedures.
- Handle contact information responsibly and follow applicable privacy laws, platform terms, and internal compliance procedures.
- Coordinate list priorities, target profiles, and delivery deadlines with SDR/BDR and sales operations teams.
- Track list-quality indicators such as verification coverage, bounce rate, and feedback from campaigns.
- Update list-building playbooks, templates, and standard operating procedures.
- Research new data sources and tools, documenting useful findings and limitations.
A typical list-building workflow
The exact workflow depends on the campaign and the data sources available, but a typical assignment may follow these steps:
For example, the team may ask for companies in a particular industry and size range, plus contacts who hold specified roles in selected states. You research matching organizations, identify appropriate professional contacts, check and enrich records using approved tools, remove duplicates, and submit the list for a final quality review. The sales team handles its own outreach unless an assignment explicitly states otherwise.
Required qualifications
- Strong research, organization, and analytical skills.
- High school diploma or equivalent required; no college degree or certification required.
- Comfort using spreadsheets to sort, filter, organize, and validate contact records.
- Attention to detail when checking names, titles, company information, URLs, and duplicates.
- Willingness to learn prospecting tools such as LinkedIn, ZoomInfo, Apollo, or Clay.
- Basic awareness of data privacy and responsible handling of business contact information; training will cover applicable procedures.
- Ability to follow written instructions, document sources where required, and meet list-delivery deadlines.
- Reliable internet connection, a quiet workspace, and ability to work independently in a remote setting.
Preferred qualifications
- Previous list building, market research, sales operations, or SDR/BDR support experience.
- Familiarity with ZoomInfo, Apollo, Clay, or LinkedIn Sales Navigator.
- Experience maintaining CRM data in Salesforce, HubSpot, or a similar platform.
- Spanish/English bilingual ability.
- Interest in sales, marketing, business research, or revenue operations.

What tools will I use?
Depending on the assignment, tools may include LinkedIn or LinkedIn Sales Navigator for professional research; ZoomInfo, Apollo, or Clay for prospect data and enrichment; spreadsheets for organizing lists; and Salesforce, HubSpot, or another CRM for maintaining records. You are not expected to know every tool before starting. Confirm which tools are provided, which training is included, and whether any platform access is supplied by the hiring team. Do not buy software or equipment based on a promise of reimbursement that has not been confirmed in writing.
How many contacts will I build per day?
There is no single daily target that applies to every assignment. Output depends on how narrow the target profile is, how much verification and enrichment is required, the available data sources, and the quality standards. The team should explain the expected volume, what counts as a verified contact, acceptable error rates, and how quality is assessed before you begin.
Privacy and data quality
List building requires responsible research and handling of business contact information. Follow the employer's approved sources, platform terms, opt-out and suppression processes, retention rules, and applicable privacy and marketing requirements. GDPR, CCPA, and CAN-SPAM may apply in different circumstances; training and internal policies should explain which requirements are relevant to each assignment. Do not assume that information being publicly visible means it can be used without restrictions.
