Job overview

Evergreen Academy Partners is seeking an organized, discreet HR Assistant to support day-to-day people operations in a fully remote setting. The role helps employees and HR colleagues move routine processes forward accurately, including new-hire documentation, employee-record updates, time-off tracking, benefits questions, training logistics, and offboarding checklists.

No previous HR, recruiting, or people-operations experience is required. Paid training covers the systems and procedures used for the assignment. This role may suit career changers, recent graduates, and administrative professionals who enjoy helping people while keeping information accurate and confidential.

A general HR support role—not just recruiting

Recruiting coordinators tend to focus on candidate pipelines and interviews. This position supports the employee lifecycle after hiring as well: onboarding and offboarding, records, benefits administration support, time-off processes, documentation, and HR reporting. You will coordinate and maintain records; direct payroll processing is not part of the stated duties.

Employment and pay

The stated pay range is $19–$27 per hour. Entry-level applicants typically start toward the lower end, and the final rate depends on experience and the assignment. Full-time roles typically run about 40 hours per week; contract schedules and duties vary. Some assignments may offer bonuses tied to retention or onboarding satisfaction.

What you’ll do

  • Help coordinate employee onboarding and offboarding checklists, deadlines, and handoffs.
  • Update employee records in HR information systems (HRIS), such as BambooHR, Gusto, or Rippling, as assigned.
  • Coordinate new-hire paperwork, including I-9 and W-4 forms, direct-deposit details, and benefits-enrollment steps.
  • Schedule interviews, orientations, training sessions, and team meetings.
  • Route employee questions about benefits, paid time off, and workplace policies to the appropriate resource.
  • Track PTO, sick leave, and time-off requests according to established procedures.
  • Assist with medical, dental, vision, and 401(k) benefits administration documentation.
  • Support performance-review cycles, document collection, and follow-up reminders.
  • Help maintain policy and compliance records and escalate questions that require HR leadership review.
  • Prepare routine HR reports, spreadsheets, and dashboards.
  • Coordinate employee training and development activities and support engagement initiatives.
  • Handle sensitive employee information carefully and only through approved systems.
  • Coordinate payroll-related information and deadlines without directly processing payroll.
  • Provide general administrative support to HR leadership.

A typical HR support workflow

Work priorities depend on the assignment and employee lifecycle activity. For example, when a new employee is due to start, you might check the onboarding tracker, confirm which forms are outstanding, schedule orientation, update the HRIS when authorized, route benefits questions to the relevant contact, and flag missing items before the start date. Records should be updated only in approved systems and handled according to company policy.
